Our programmes give Tees Valley students the chance to engage directly with employers, increase understanding of career opportunities, improve skills and raise aspirations. Alongside workplace-based activities, we offer a range of virtual work experience (VWEX) programmes. These inspiring, live and interactive placements directly connect young people with employers from a diverse range of industries and sectors; connecting the curriculum with careers, opening the door to career opportunities and providing a glimpse into a diverse range of businesses across the Tees Valley.
Our programmes also have a key focus on life skills, changing attitudes, developing networks and building ambitions. They are designed to align with the local LEP sector skills strategy and deliver ‘meaningful’ career experiences required by the national careers framework the Gatsby Benchmarks
Our virtual programmes are open to all schools and colleges across the Tees Valley. They’re also simple to organise through our online platform and are delivered completely free of charge. All sessions are full facilitated by High Tide and are delivered in partnership with Speakers for Schools and our growing network of businesses. Our bite-size Inspiration Days are taster sessions introducing students to a wide range of sectors, businesses and jobs roles. They are delivered regularly throughout the year and can fit easily into a structured careers programme.
Delivered live with employers, the structured and interactive sessions are designed to help students understand more career opportunities, connect their curriculum with career and raise aspirations through engaging presentations, meeting people in varying job roles and practical break out sessions.
Sessions are available throughout the year for up to 100 students in each session and will be facilitated by our High Tide team through the Speaker for Schools virtual classroom platform with our business members from a range of sectors including digital, shipping, logistics, engineering, manufacturing, law and finance.
Our three-day Virtual Work Experience placements are industry-led, structured, inspiring and interactive work placements designed for Y9 – Y13 students. They are delivered regularly throughout the year outside term time and can fit easily into a structured careers programme.
Delivered live with employers, the structured and interactive sessions focus on developing a deeper understanding of individual businesses, industries and job roles and include a series of business challenges, group presentations, virtual site tours, and interactive Q&A sessions.
Sessions are available throughout the year for up to 100 students in each session and will be facilitated by our High Tide team through a virtual classroom platform with our business members from a range of sectors including digital, shipping, logistics, engineering, manufacturing, law and finance.
Our workplace-based programmes are currently on hold. We will be working with our business members to resume these when safe and appropriate to do so.
